Hi DeeDee,
As Donna mentioned - helpful to check gr-gran's marriage age.
Also if you can find her on the 1891 & 1901 censuses with her parents and an age that fits the 1882 birth,
then it would appear to be an age error on her 1923 DC.

Hi Deedee,

On my GG Grandmother's death cert. her son gave her age as 64 which would have made her 10 when she married his father
Maybe not all his fault, her age on the censuses was erratic to say the least. Always in her favour though

Kind regards,

Alison

Have you got your great granny's marriage cert? Do the ages you've got match there?

D'ohhhh! Got my answer, thanks. All this searching and mental arithmentic working out ages, etc scrambles your brain, I'm sure of that.
The death cert has her age wrong by 9 years, and the informant was her husband.....hmmmmmmmm. :? Oh well. Thanks again Donna, etc

Kind Regards

Dionne

Hi Deedee
My great grandfather drowned in the Forth & Clyde Canal in 1895. I got this info from his death cert.
Do you have a name and a date for that death?

Best wishes
Lesley

1895 SRI Death LINDSAY, ROBERT (Statutory Deaths 644/08 0122)

This is it, Lesley, he was aged 30. If I knew how to let you see it without using any credits, I'd be more than happy to.

Regards always

Dionne

The date will be on the death cert. that you downloaded - I was just looking for a day and month as I might be in a position where I could check a newspaper but without a date I doubt I'd have the time to trawl through the whole year's worth of newspapers, but you've maybe explored that angle already?

Best wishes

Lesley - apologies. Missed out the most important part of the info you asked for - it was Feb 2nd, 1895.

I'll get there eventually!

Regards always

Dionne

Hi Dionne
Found an article that may be of interest - does not mention your man by name but I'm pretty sure it is referring to him. If you PM me with your email address I'll send on the details of what I found.

...and found another article in which he is named! :D

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi DeeDee,

Where abouts did your relation die?

One of my great great grandfathers did at Lock 16 in the Forth and Clyde in Falkirk.

It seems from the RCE that he was not found for an entire month after death and judging from the date 1st January of 1883 he may have fallen in during New Years Celebrations.
