Just wanted to thank everyone again for their help with my Youngs and Fullers!
Yesterday was sheer torture...wrap a present...run to the computer and find a birth certificate...wrap a present....run and find a marriage certificate...wrap a present....you get the picture! :>)
Have a great day!

Hi Heather
Just quick line to let you know that I have not forgotten my offer to get a photo of 15 Bank Street, Galashiels for you. Our weather here for the past few weeks has been pretty horrible and the photos would not be too good. I had a walk around that area this morning - and number 15 does not have a frontage onto Bank Street - it is situated behind the main street accessed via a close (type of alleyway between buildings) - it looks like number 15 was originally a bakery - but has now been converted into a private dwelling and extended some what - also surrounded by a high wall. Not sure if I will be able to take a photo of it - but I can and will get one of the entrance to the close showing number 15. Also did some searching for old photos - there is one of Bank Street in 1910 - which should look the same as it was when your lot had the Bakery there - I'll try to get that photo and scan it to send to you. I'll also do some more research to see what else I can find out and get it to you.
Best regards
Ted

But we're not strangers
One of the keys to this situation is one of the reasons for the existence of TalkingScot; which is that what you might regard as difficult questions are not necessarily that difficult for at least some, if not many, of the members of TalkingScot, all of whom delight in launching folk such as yourself on a successful search for links to your ancestors in Auld Scotia
