Hello Donna

I realise that Mary gave you an outline of the Scobbie wains, but I thought you might like some more information if you don’t already have it.
As Stewarts are my main line I was wondering if you know who Margarets parents were, I know it is a long shot with having a name like Stewart but my Stewarts around the very early 1800’s are very thin on the ground. Very, very thin I might add.

No - I haven't traced Margaret's parents as yet. I figure Stewart would be fairly common........

Stewart is my maiden name, Donna.

I've only got back as far as my Great Grandfather's marriage in Ireland, 1845. The Irish records don't give the couple's mother's names just the fathers, so ](*,) for me at that point.

I think he WAS actually born in Scotland but can't be sure that the only one I found so far that might match is the right chap.

Do you know if the 1841 & 1851 scotland census on Ancestry.com is complete???

Donna
The Ancestry indexes are based on the GROS microfilms, so that Ancetry's index should be as complete as those microfilms.

Ah the Joys of it all. I know I got stuck on certain lines of the family - and was giving up hope of finding a link. Then out of the blue I found someone with the same area details and slight variation on the name and low and behold it was a match - since then information has been coming in, in leaps and bounds. Finding distant rellies and just the other day - a daughter of the family I was looking for.

My tree has grown by over 1000 people in the last couple of months - just by finding a couple of links. (after a break of a few months).

You just never know what's around the corner. But if I find anything,,,,,I'll let you know.

Regards

Donna

I'll upload a copy of the marriage registration I have for Jane (Jean) Scobie (as spelt on the reg) and Thomas McGill - would I be correct in thinking Thomas' father is Quintin (?) - have found a Martin McGill and Jane Allan but yet to find a Quintin and Jane - hopefully someone can assist with this bit too.

Many thanks

Donna
