David, well spotted, I've at this game long enough that I should have checked to see what his Father-in-Law was doing.

Did not help us much though.....it's just a bad :(

I'm fairly sure that that he was a M**IE - Sellar's Assistant. The 'M' is the same as the scribe has written for McCaskill (Lizzie's middle name) and for Minister. The scribe seems to quite consistent with dotting his 'i''s all be it at a bit of slope, so it seems just the middle letters to find :?

Anne - Nice call, but ah hae ma doubts, though.

Finding William's occupation is not that important, in that he is not a 'main-line' relative but it I have this niggly thing about filling all the 'boxes' to my satisfaction.

As a music-sellars assistant do you think he started off selling music for nursery ryhmes working his way up through traditional then contemporary and upward to classical music, or maybe he was just good at 'carrying a tune'. :lol:

Didn't mean to give away your secret. :cry: ....but really can't see how your cleverness factor is diminished 8) ...besides...you know how us genealogists need proofs for everything :wink:

Wha kens, but at the time of the bride's/dochter's birth the father(-in-law) was certainly a Journeyman Ironmoulder ...........

Presumably his son in law took over the business in 1941?
