Hi Anne H

Continuing my Sneddon search :? :o

Does the name Isabella Drysdale/Dryley who marries a David Sneddon fit into your tree in any way?

I've just come across another Sneddon who is Elizabeth, the daughter of the above couple who marries Adam Baxter.

This lot are driving me nuts!

Best wishes
Jean

Hi All,

There's a Sneddon I am seeking the birth record of, and have never found. Does anyone recognise her?

Jean (Jeanie) Sneddon, born about 1900/1901. She married John Paterson on 30-Dec-1922 in Blackridge, West Lothian (just over the boundary from Lanarkshire). She died in July 1964, two years after her husband. They are buried in the cemetery at Kirk o' Shotts. On her marriage certificate, her parents are given as Peter Sneddon (coal miner, deceased) and Margaret Sneddon (ms. Wilson, deceased). On her death certificate, her father is given as Thomas Sneddon. She died in Killearn Hospital (in rural west Stirlingshire), with her usual residence in Harthill.

I've not tracked her down in the 1901 census. It may be that I have to wait until the 1911 census comes online to find her. Or even the 1921 census. I have found no sign of her parents' marriage on SP. There is of course the possibility that they were not in Scotland.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Andrew

I haven't come across Jean yet.

I'll add her to the ever increasing list of maybe's.

I'm sure all the Sneddons in Stirling, Lanark and West Lothian are connected at some point

I just wish they would stop flitting from county to county every few years :?

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Andrew,

I know this is bit like teaching you granny how to suck eggs xmas:biggrin: ........but have you looked at the Peter Snedden and Margaret Wilson marriage at Armadale in 1886. They are living at Armadale in 1901 and there is a birth of a Jean Snedden there in 1901.

Regards,
Annette

Hi Annette

Great find!

Andrew if you get this marriage cert will you let me know Peter's parents' names please :)

Then I will see if I can connect them into my lot. I have quite a few who were born in Armadale/Bathgate.

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Jean & Annette,

Thanks for that one Annette. (How many times have I advised folks about wildcards in searches?)

Peter's parents were Peter Grady and Elizabeth Snedden (unmarried). Peter junior was aged 24 at the time of his marriage.

Peter's birth certificate is there for 1863, at Polkemmet Rows. The father is un-named, and there is an RCE notification. However there is no sign of the RCE button to view that document (contact form on the way to SP). Elizabeth is listed as a farm servant.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Jean,

I do have a drysdale, but not connected with this family, as far as I can see. :(

David Snedden Love's (b 1862 New Monkland) parents were James Love and Agnes Rankine.
Agnes' parents were George Rankine and Barbara Snedden....since these are 'in-law's', I haven't researched any further but will keep my eye on them now. :)

I've lost track of all your Sneddens...do you have a Barbara?

Hi Andrew,
Great find from Annette for your Sneddon...all these Sneddon's are coming out of the woodwork.

On the subject of wildcards:
remember Shedden is another possibility for this lot!

I'm going to remember this thread when I restart those side branches whith Sneddons in the mix.

My friend has a Barbara born 1902 to John Sneddon (b1873 Slamannan)and Margaret Love (b1874 Motherwell).

John's parents were James Sneddon (b1843 Old Monkland) and Barbara Adamson (b1849 Shotts).
Margaret's were Henry Love and Margaret Rankin.

Just thought I'd through them into the confusion.

Andrew - it was through doing this research that I discovered the many variations of the name xmas:roll:

Annette
