Okay, Carol... I know how one can forget in the heat of the chase!
Your suggestion of looking at the birth is a good one, since there is only one Davidson death in West Calder in 1924-5 and it is a male born 1870

So, either she was not a Davidson (i.e., they were not actually married) or she died elsewhere. Best to have a look at the birth.
All the best,
Sarah

If you search SP for Jessie Davidson, birth from 1920 to 1925, you should get three results with this one being the only one for West Calder:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I don't know where your cousin in Scotland is located, but maybe she could go look this one up for you? Otherwise, you might want to order it from SP. The image isn't available online because of the privacy law.

Thanks all for your help
I go his first marraige certificate. I have been searching for his father John Davidson he is on 1891 census but not on the 1901 and on this marraige certificate in 1918 he is deceased
There is a John Davidson died in 1900 aged 35 but its not him as wrong spouse on death certificate!
He was born in Ireland so will rake til a find out. Can anyone tell me where I get hold of the irish census? I thought it was on ancestry but cant find it

Hi Shona
1911 for Ireland is here, to be followed by the 1901 in time.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
Most of the rest of the census data for Ireland was destroyed one way or anther - these are the only two complete census sets for Ireland.
Best wishes
Lesley
