From the articles that Lesley so kindly found for me, it appears that he was found near the 'collector's bridge'. The death cert says it was near the head of Ann Street - I'm not really familiar with the area or even know if the bridge is still there. The newspaper articles state, though, that there had been a spate of these accidents, 36 drownings in the previous year (and those were the ones that had been taken to mortuaries - the others who'd been more easily identified being taken home instead) in that area due to it being unfenced. When my gg grandfather fell in, he was one of 4 to go in 4 days.
