Re Quintin McGill

Hi again Donna,
A bit of confusion over Quintin's birthplace?
The IGI has submissions for father Quintin being born St. Quivox, AYR....
But young Quinton was born 1855 Carluke, so hopefully his BC will have his father's correct birthplace!
This below from an 1861 census index.

1861 census 655 Ed 3 p 17 (Shotts)
Quinton McGILL, 40, b Gatehouse, KKD
Janet McGILL, 36, b Lanarkshire
John McGILL, 15, b Lanarkshire
Jane McGILL, 13, b Lanarkshire
Thomas McGILL, 11, b Lanarkshire
Francis McGILL, 9, b Lanarkshire
Quinton McGILL, 7, b Lanarkshire
Ann McGILL, 3, b Shotts, LKS
James McGILL, 1, b Shotts, LKS

I found that too Jack - but I believe Quintin was born closer to 1820 (But I could be wrong) with parents of John McGill and Annie Black.

Any suggestions???

Hi Donna,
I think you're right, and i've not been reading things properly!
Ah need ah good long sleep.... [snore]
The Ayrshire McGills maybe connected to yours in some way?
Or it could just be a coincidence (and they do happen!)
that there are two completely unrelated Quintin McGills born about the 1820s.
