I was very pleased to see info about David Crookston, mining Engineer. I have it that he was born in either 43 Finlay Street, Glasgow, or 73 Cathkin Road, Glasgow. It also answers a puzzle I have had regarding a very modest (but welcome) inheritance that I had from his estate some 25 - 30 years ago.

Regarding the McCrindle connection, I have now traced a line:
William McCrindle (1843 - 1913) m 1871, Eliza Foote (c1845 - 1901)
John Foote McCrindle (1874 - 1934) m 1908, Nora Alen (1881 - 1971) - he was Chief Accountant of Union Bank of Scotland, and you`ll find his signature on it`s Banknotes.
They had 3 children:
Alan (1909 - 1911)
Eric John McCrindle (1911 - 1944). Killed (executed by the Japanese) in Burma. Mentioned in Dispatches. Listed on Rangoon Memorial.
Hazel Morrell McCrindle (1913 - 1974) - single, emigrated to Melbourne.

End of that part of the line, sadly.
