Hello Dennis,
Which of the two marriages are you interested in?
Actually, that image is an excellent example of one of the shortcomings of the 1 bit image format when used for these types of documents. It’s ended up as more of a join-the-dots puzzle than anything else. All the fine lines have been lost and its illegibility probably has very little to do with the quality of the source document or the handwriting.
Regardless of whether someone manages to read it as is, if the document and its contents have any value to you, I think you should ask for something better via a contact form.
Alan

Hello Alan,
Apologies for not presenting the particular marriage on the image. It is the one for John Paterson & Sarah Johnston.

Hi Dennis,
Sarah M Johnston, 28 Dundas Street, Edinburgh
Patents: William Johnston (surveyor) and Elizabeth Johnston (m.s. Fergus)
From the online IGI:
Sarah Muir Johnston born 05-Feb-1861 Edinburgh (and brother John 1862)
They are at the 28 Dundas Street address in the 1871 census and in another street a few hundred yards away in 1861 (surname spelled as Johnstone, and married wife shown by her maiden surname). The type of houses at these addresses suggest that he lived quite well from his job as a surveyor.
According to the online IGI, her maiden surname is listed as Fergas at their 1857 marriage a few miles outside Edinburgh.
All the best,
AndrewP
