Help locating death certificate

Post by AngelaS » Mon Nov 12, 2007 10:53 pm

I am finding it hard to locate a death certificate. The person's name was James Johnston, known as Jimmy. He died in the late 1940s and would probably be in his early 60s. His parents were Francis Johnston and Elizabeth Pollock. He spent time in Hartwood Asylum, Shotts but there is no death record in that area. The family lived in Anderston, Glasgow but there is no death record there either.
I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks

Angela

Hi Angela,

His death is there. He died in Hartwood, which was in Calderhead registration district (a district made up from part of Shotts Parish and part of Cambusnethan Parish). As you expected, it was in the late 1940s and he was in his early 60s.

All the best,

AndrewP

I have been looking in the Shotts area not Calderhead. I'm not too sure of those districts.

Many thanks
