which one?

I have been looking at John Beveridge birth cert on SP a near match would be the Inverkeithing one but they look alike except one - has anyone any idea why and which would be the best bet.

Hi Ailsa,

The three Inverkeithing ones seem to be for the same event. The two with the same number are a bit odd - they give you the same page. If you pay for one, the other will then be listed as paid too. The single one will be charged for separately. I had a peek at each of the Inverkeithing ones. The one which is listed once looks more like the rough notes and the one that appears twice is the more formally written one.

(I think) A clue can be found in the list of OPRs from GROS's website.

I looked on the Birth cert but disappointing that it doesn't really tell any more than the names i already know. I did search for John Beveridge and Janet Bell marriage anf came back with the below:

They had a son, John born in 1732.

Their son William married one of my Livingstons, Bessie.

Hi Catriona,

Nice to hear from someone who has a shared interest! alas my John Beveridge was born circa 1726. They tended not to move too far away and most of the ones i have found lived in Dunfermline. As i go further back i am going slightly away from Dunfermline that's why i am sure this John and Janet Bell are the right ones (on his birth cert). It is in Inverkeithing which is close (i think) to Dunfermline.
I thought they would come up on the search i posted but maybe they didn't get married.
I will try and see if any other children surface.
If i find a link to you Catriona i will let you know.

Hi Ailsa,

Inverkeithing was one of the adjoining parishes to Dunfermline.

That is a good map thanks, i am 95% that i am on the right track i think looking for his siblings and tying them in is the only thing short of going to the parishes.
