It's a bit annoying searching and only getting results when the "unrecorded" boxes are ticked yet when the image comes up the mother's name is there or the age is recorded. Is there something I'm not understanding?

Hi Mallog,

Apparently, when the records were indexed the maiden name of the mother wasn't included in the index...even though it does appear on the record (when the informant knew what it was). I believe I read (probably on SP) that they are beginning to index maiden names.

Regards,
Anne H

Hi Mallog,

SP mention this on their website.

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/conte ... ?r=554&624

See notes 1 and 2 under statutory deaths.

All the best,

AndrewP

Sorry about that.

Because the facility was included I think I've misunderstood what the index was. I've been seeing it as an index of the computerised records rather than the original index digitised, if you know what I mean
