Birth Register Entry Number?

Post by robm0761 » Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:13 am

Hello!

My great-grandmother's birth registration is Entry No. 147. But above it an "L" has been written.

The two male entries before her have a "B" written above their entry numbers.

What would the "L" (and "B" for that matter) mean? Just a wild guess, but is it someone simple like "Boy" and "Lassie"?

Thanks!

Hi Rob,

The L or B refers to the part of the parish they were born in - Landward or Burgh.

All the best,

AndrewP

Why be embarrassed Rob :?:

It just proves that you are more of a romantic than you thought and AndrewP is a pragmatist

Thanks for clearing this one up. I always wondered what those little letters meant. :D
