Doing this one for an English friend with Scottish roots and I'd like to give it to her before she leaves on Wednesday but I'm having problems.
Her gran was Catherine Munro born 1872 in Aberdeen but I can't find her birth. She died in England age 104.
Here she is in 1881
Dwelling: 11 Crooked Lane
Census Place: Aberdeen St Nicholas, Aberdeen, Scotland
Source: FHL Film 0203443 GRO Ref Volume 168-1 EnumDist 11 Page 7

Ann ROBERTSON M 40 F Nairn, Nairn, Scotland

Rel: Son
She married James Moir in 1893 and only her mother's name was given on her marriage entry as Ann Munro, new wife of John Robertson. A look at their marriage entry shows Anne to be a spinster. I can trace her family no bother but.......................
There is no sign of Catherine or her sister Isabella registered under Munro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Better go and look out my party hat.
Regards,
Annette M

hi Annette
I'm sure you have already covered this ground, but I'm seeing a Catherine Munro born 1872 on SP Aberdeen (all districts). If I expand the search to cover 1871-73, and *ath*rine, I'm getting two, Aberdeen (all districts). I'm sure you will have checked both of these already...

No credits I'm sorry....
A process of illimination with the free search implies that one is in Old Machar in 1872, the other St Nicholas in 1971. A St Nicholas is IN Aberdeen as far as I'm aware, and Old Machar is an adjoining parish to Aberdeen City, its not easy to say which would be the better bet.
Best wishes
Lesley
p.s. There are 3 Isabella Munros born in Old Machar between 1873 - 75

Hi Annette,
The following two are on SP and look to be likely candidates.
CATHERINE MUNRO - 08 APR 1872 - Old Machar + RCE (paternity)
ISABELLA MUNRO - 29 SEP 1873 - Old Machar
All the best,
AndrewP

hi Andrew
I thought Old Machar was looking likely, but the additional info re. the RCE (Paternity) certianly makes it look like a real possibility.
Best wishes

Thanks Lesley.
I was searching the IGI to find her before buying it on SP. There is only a submission for the Catherine I assume is my friends Gran.
The St Nicholas isn't her so she must be the one in Old Machar although St Nicholas makes more sense. Unfortunately I've just paid £12 to SP and have not been given any credits so I can't look at the moment to see if it's her as I only have 2 left of the 30 I bought last night.

I'm reluctant to try again as they are obviously having problems.
Kind regards,
Annette M

ScotlandsPeople is offline just now. Hopefully that is them uploading the new year's data.
(I'm sure you didn't break SP, Annette)

It took me so long to reply I've just seen your post Andrew. Thanks a lot. I'm sure it will be her. Very frustrating that I can't view it because SP hasn't given me the credits I've paid for. I'm away to send a contact form and hopefully they won't all be away home.
Kind regards,
Annette M

hi Annette
Hope you get it sorted quickly ...and that they've not nipped off early for a wee dram!
Best wishes
