Have hit a dead-end in my research with a John Mather, whose wife was Katharin(Katherine) Gourley. They had a son, James christened Saint Vigeans 19 Sep,1767 and a further son James christened same place , 11 Aug 1778.
Hopefully located wedding info or parents of John..

What info do you have on John?Any occupation on children's Christening details?
As you may know Stat Reg did not start until 1855 in Scotland before that you are very much at the mercy of what has survived & what has been recorded.Our ancestors did not neccesarilly have their vital statistics recorded.
They did at that period tend to live,marry & die in the same area so with luck you may find what you are looking for.
Where did you find your info? I would be looking at a variety of sources-ScotlandsPeople,IGI,Hugh Wallis(where you can search by Parish).
There may be fellow Mather searchers here who can connect too.

Also noted that there are a few contributors to the Mather name on Ancestral File on the IGI.Whilst I cannot see any in the St.Vigeans Parish it still might be a thought to get in touch.

Thanx for the comeback.. Info that I have to date on John was for the most that available thru the IGI files. His marriage to Katarin Gourley and most of the children From OPR file I got the details of the 19 Aug 1767 and the 11 Aug 1778 christenings of their two sons both named James? Perhaps the first passed away.These were both shown as St Vigeans.. THat is all I have found so far
