Post by Joan 65 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 1:36 am

Good Morning,

I would greatly appreciate help.

I am searching for the marriage of:
JOHN McHARG WHO MARRIED ANN ?
PORTPATRICK.

All I have are their birthdates which are:
JOHN 1796
ANN 1807
Also Ann's last name.

Thank you very much for all help!

Sincerely,

Joan

Hi Joan,
Could you tell us how you found out the birth dates and her surname? That might help us know what records you have already checked.

Regards,
Sarah

Hi Joan,
On the IGI on FamilySearch.org there is a marriage of John McHarg and Ann Kirkpatrick on 9 Dec 1856 Coylton, Ayr
This seems late for a first marriage, if the birth dates are correct. Or was this a second marriage?

All the best,
Sarah

Hi Ann,

First marriage I believe, and yes, I think this marriage might be too late, but thank you for checking.

Hi I have McHarg or Mquath as they are sometimes know form Ayr-Girvan.
They have proved so elusive but I will have a look & see if I can find anything useful.
Mine love to change their spelling of names, never marry or never have their marriages recorded & have children with varying surnames-all different.
Researching:SCOTT,Taylor,Young,VEITCH LINLEY,MIDLOTHIAN

If Annette found the correct family in 1841, then they may well have been married in Ireland :( With luck however, and if they can be found in later censuses with a more precise birth place, you may be able to track them down.
All the best,
Sarah

Hello Joan,

The Wigtownshire Pages http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~ ... index.html are worth a good look for anyone with interests there. There’s heaps of information about all sorts of things Wigtownshire.
