I have been trying to sort this family out for about 2 years and have come back to it this week and can get no further forward on it.
Archibald Scally Born 1809 in Campbelltown marries Christian Loynachan (or Lang) BORN 1810 Campbeltown. The marriage is in 1833 in Campbeltown. This is the easy part.
They have 9 children over a 19 year period
Mary b 1834
Marion b 1836
Lachlan b 1840
James b 1842
Archibald B 1843
Janet B 1846 all Campbeltown
Neil b 1849
James B 1851
Edward B 1854 Campbeltown
I have managed to get the family on the census 1841/51/61 with some difficulty
In 1841 they are in Campbeltown but under Seally
There is no Mary so assume she died in infancy
In 1851 they have moved to Glasgow and are a 6 Water Street , Barony
There is no James , i assume he dies as there is another James in 1851.All under the name Scully
This is were it gets complicated!!!
In 1859 Christian dies in Glasgow
in 1861Census they are at 24 Grove Street, Milton Glasgow but unde rthe name of Scally in Grove Street, Milton
Archibald age 45 Widow
Marion AGE 23
Archibald 17
Janet 14
Edward 7
Lachlan , Neil and James(2) are all missing but i cannot find DC for any of them
Marion has an illegitmate child Robert McKinnon in 1856 in Tradeston with Robert McKinnon of Mull, he is listed on the 1861 Census as Robert Scally.
Archibald dies in 1863 in Campbeltown and his sister Margaret is the informant, which leads me to belive that his children might be in glasgow.
Marion dies in 1866 in Glasgow , she married Robert McKinnon in 1861.
Can anyone help me find the deaths/marriages of the other children

Hi Trish
The Neil Scally in Campbeltown is Marion Scally's nephew, the problem with the scally's is they all use the same names every generation , around 1900 i have 4 flora scallys born within about 4 years of each other and 2 have the same middle name!!!
Pitty the LDS submission doesnt have a contact address.
The James Scally one is interesting , i have the two James as possible deaths at a young age but you never know stranger things have happened!!

Thomas Lang m Mary Cherry. Their daughter Mary Lang married John Farquhar on 15 April 1824 in Cambuslang. Would like to get further. Mary Lang was my GGgrandmother.
Cheers

Hello David,
Following on from Trish’s clue.
Here’s a 2006 enquiry about an Archibald and Sarah Reid Scally family that emigrated from Campbelltown to Western Australia in 1926.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/scally/messages/170.html and another, perhaps from the Irish Branch http://genforum.genealogy.com/scally/messages/117.html
A great tribe of Scally’s arrived in Fremantle that year according to http://www.findmypast.com/passengerList ... on?redef=0
If you search the National Achives of Australia for SCALLY SCOTLAND you’ll find one born there http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch.aspx There will be other Scally’s and on the General Search page via the Passenger Index link there will be more who travelled to Western Australia..
Could be a bit extra on the WW2 Nominal Roll http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/script/name.asp#searchtabs
Western Australia has cemetery records http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/search.php
Also BMD index records online for a limited range of years but missing parent info for more recent events..
http://www.justice.wa.gov.au/_apps/pion ... fault.aspx
There’s more WA marriages here http://www.openwindows.com/marriage/search.htm
There may be clues in the Australian White Pages http://www.whitepages.com.au/wp/index.jsp
Hope that’s useful and they’re related,
Alan

Hi Annpa
Dont have any of those names, my Langs are from Campbeltown , then Greenock and Glasgow from about 1925 onwards.
Alan/Trish
I have Archibald/Sarah Reid in my tree already he is the 1st Cousin Once removed of Marion, i have a wee note attached to him saying "possible emigrant to Australia".
Found the family as you suggested with those links but ordering the certificates looks expensive.
I also now the poster on the gen forum and have been in contact with her before.
The Scally's are a nightmare , with a pretty easy name to search they think they would be easy to find but no they seem to like to hide, they also breed like wildfire and always have 8 to 15 children each all using the same names!!!

Re: Missing Family !!!!
Thought i would give you an update on the missing Scally clan.
By chance i checked an 1871 Census record for a child of Marion and Robert McKinnon, and hey presto there was Edward Scally listed as Edward Scouller living with his McKinnon relatives of Roberts 1st Marriage.
So a quick check has uncovered most of the other siblings under the name Scouller or Scouler
Archibald marries and remains in Glasgow
Edward marries and moves to Port Glasgow
Janet marries and stays in Glasgow
All 3 use Scouller/Scouler as their surname and have it as their mothers maiden name in all offical documentation.
Lachlan's, Neil's and the 2 Jame's death certificates still alude me but no doubt they are out there under some other spelling of their various surnames
