Image Clarity

Post by Alcluith » Tue Jul 05, 2005 9:09 am

Sylvia

It is hard to decipher your posting but have you tried to invert the image with your graphic software i.e. Paint shop to make it a negative this sometimes helps.

I tried it with the image in gallery but it is too small, loss of definition.

If you want you can send me the image by email I will have a go for you
Burns, Quinn - Glasgow, N.Ireland
McLeod, Mackay, Nicholson, McNeil - Skye
James, McLeod, Sinclair, Smith - Renton
Davidson, Adie, Gibb - Aberdeen
Jolly, Wishart - Angus
Usher - Newcastle
Mullen, Roe - Dublin
O'Donnell - Ireland, Alexandria

Hi Sylvia,

Did you receive this certificate as a download from ScotlandsPeople? If so, then your original will be in TIF format rather than JPG. Can you upload the original TIF image? JPG images lose a lot of quality of the original image and make the deciphering a lot more difficult (probably impossible in this case).

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Go back to ScotlandsPeople website and fill in a contact form detailing the names and reference numbers of this certificate, advising them that the online image is illegible. They should send you out a photocopy of the certificate from the original book.

I will have a go at deciphering and will reply again later today.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Thanks Andrew
A contact form has been sent.

It's funny the trouble that some people seem to have on the new site, I've found it much more user friendly, although the actual image download is much smaller it's easy enough to get around.
And all my previous seaches and views are intact. Including the double ups back when I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing :-(

My guess at the address is "In Garrison, off Park Road, Aberdeen".

All the best,
