A calendar worker could have worked in the papermaking or cloth industry - working a calendar machine - a machine with bowlc or rollers for finishing the surface of cloth, paper etc (quote from Chambers English Dictionary).

Finding the children is a trickier one for you as they will be post-1904, hence not available online for a few years yet. If their death certificates are available (up to 1954 online) then see who registered the deaths - commonly done by a child of the deceased. Otherwise, you will be needing a day off work and a train ticket to Edinburgh to visit New Register House.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Thanks Andrew I cant look for any certs as I dont have a credit card but I have applied for one.
When I was first told of this marriage my mum said it was after the birth
of Jeanies son to [maguire] which would be about 1915-16 thats why I ve
asked about children the marriage was in 1908 surely william wouldnt have been at sea for seven years?
William Lyons was in hartswood or hall asylum in 1922 so they must have
divorced or he must have died could I find this info on line.
Now I have cert I want to know everything.
Thanks for your reply Isabel

Isabel

Do a search on TS using the search function above and just type in Warrant of Sheriff and you will get a good answer. It has something to do with a non-religious marriage.
