Alternative to Agnes

Post by Tracey » Sat Aug 16, 2008 10:07 pm

This has probably been asked before.

What else is Agnes found as and is it short or an alternative for another name ?

I have found what i think is Robert Casey who is one of many Caseys i am looking for.
According to poor relief record in 1890 he was married and living at 4 Duncan Street Calton. It doesnt give wifes name. He was aged 22 and a Labourer.
So searching the 1891 census i think i may have found him or a likely candidate living at Marlboro St Camlachie with a wife Agnes 22 and child Annie 2.
Ive looked for a marriage between Robert Casey and an Agnes ? This could have been around 1888-90 ish. Searching Robert Casey and female first name Agnes - no restrictions brings back nothing.
Male sir name Casey female first name Agnes doesnt bring up a Robert (same thing really as above).

I have also looked for the childs birth but will take up far to many credits
7 under Ann - 2 of which i have viewed
2 under Annie - the most likely candidate for her on here isnt her.

Any suggestions on the above would be most welcome.

Hi Tracey,
Is this Annie in 1901? If so, who is Helen Casey, with whom she "boards"? Could she be Robert's sister or sister-in-law? I note he was also born in England in the 1891 census. If you can't find Annie's birth, maybe you can find Matthew's. He looks like he could be her brother and his name is more unusual :D

1901
26 Crownpoint Rd, Glasgow Camlachie, Lanarkshire
Helen Casey, 25, Head, born England
Helen Casey, 5, Daur, born Glasgow
Annie Casey, 11, Boarder, born Glasgow, Scholar
Matthew Casey, 9, Boarder, born Glasgow, Scholar

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Tracey,

I have a few named Agnes with the name interchanging between that and Nan, Nancy, Ann(e) or Annie at different times and I believe most were actually named as Ann(e) on BC's.

Regards,
Anne H

Hello Sarah
Thats my gt grandmother Helen. And no, when i looked i couldnt find Matthews birth either, looking at straight Matthew no *'s. The closest is one in 1894 and that isnt him so as yet i cant link these two to any brother of my great grandfather.
I am suprised that Ancestry didnt transcribe him as Matther.
