New Register House...

Post by Angusfifer » Thu Nov 20, 2008 3:42 pm

Haven't been for a few years.
Is it still the same procedure? (online index and traipsing through to the vaults to dig out a copy of the certificate you're after)
Any idea of the fee and do you need to book in advance?

Thanks... 8)

It's now all very modern sleek and efficient see:

I've never as yet ventured forth but somewhere around this forum is a wealth of tips for those who do go in the flesh.

Thanks Wilma.

I've got a feeling I stumbled on a guide to using the place somewhere on this site too...

I was at New Register House last week, the fee for all day has dropped to £10, most certificates can now be viewed on screen, so you rarely need to leave your seat.

Hi Gilly,
Welcome to Talking Scot! [scotland-flag] Glad you've joined us. It's good that the price has come down now at NRH -- no excuse now for those who are lucky enough to live close by!

All the best,
Sarah

Well that has just about clinched it. Now I do have to make an effort to get up to Glasgow - probably in 2009 now.

I want to see my homeland at least just one more time before I get too "decrepit"

Maybe I will arange a trip to Glasgow AND Belfast in one big lump and lay a whole load of ](*,) to rest [pour-drink]

P.S. Welcome to [talkingscot] [scotland-flag] Gilly.

Yeah! Sounds good to me!

I'll let you know when I plan to go. Pretty much open to the "whenever" system as I have no ties, really (apart from cat-sitting for son and daughter holiday periods).

Hi Mary
Would love to do it, but it may have to remain a "wish" for now. Work, cats, dog & kids at this end make arrangements difficult. One of these days....

PM me when you're planning though - might be able to meet you in Glasgow even if I can't do the "full monty"!

Best wishes
Lesley
