can't I find an OPR marriage for parents listed on a DC.....

Greetings.

I've uploaded the DC for an Ann McLeod (1830-1894). I'd hoped that I'd be able to find a marriage date for her listed parents.

Hi Dennis,

The online IGI shows the 1853 marriage of William Cameron and Ann McLeod, and the births of 5 children from 1861 to 1870 (assuming the Glasgow birhs belong to this couple, the Edinburgh births belong to the Edinburgh marriage of a couple of the same names).

No sign of Ann's birth, or her parents' marriage on the online IGI.

Hi Andrew.

I've just upped what I'd been using as the MC for William Cameron & Ann McLeod that took place in 1858. It looks like the same parents for Ann as on her DC, but I'm not sure if they match what you saw on the Online IGI 1853 marriage.

Hi Dennis,

I think you have the wrong marriage for William Cameron and Ann McLeod. The proof will be found on the 1870 birth certificate for McLeod Cameron, the son who registered his mother's death, the certificate you uploaded earlier this evening.

Hello Andrew.

I had been going back from Agnes Cameron 1881-1922, parents listed as William Cameron 1859-? & Annie McKee c1862-?, married Feb 4, 1881 on Agnes Cameron's BC, in Camlachie, Glasgow.
William's parents are listed on his MC as William Cameron & Annie McLeod.

So this William is the 1859 Edinburgh born son, presumably of the 1858 Edinburgh-married couple. The two certificates show William Cameron as a shoemaker, so it seems that the Edinburgh married couple moved through to Glasgow. So that leaves the tangled web of the Cameron children - which couple does each child belong to? I think you will need the 1861 and 1871 censuses to sort them out.
