Hi.
I have a John Pirie Temple b1877 to James & Mary Temple (nee Gardiner). I can see on SP that he was a widower when he married Mary Watson Anderson in 1920. However, I can't locate his 1st wife. John's DC lists only his marriage to Mary Anderson.

Re: first wife
Hello Dennis,
search on marriages of John P* Temple and you will find the first one. He was not a widower when he remarrried.
Regards,
John

Hi John.
Thanks for that. It didn't occur to me to wildcard the middle-name. How do you know he wasn't a widower when he remarried?

Re: first wife
Hello Dennis,
the register entry for the first marriage has a stamp by the first column (applied retrospectively), which states Register of Corrected Entries Divorced vol 9 (entry) 223. I could not find a death of his first wife in Scotland, although she could have died elsewhere, but they definitely divorced and that is what should have been recorded.
Regards,
John
