Re: parents of John winning 1777
Hello Jerry,
Where was he born? The IGI has a couple of John Winning baptisms in that year. http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true
JOHN WINNING
Birth: 04 MAY 1777
Christening: 09 MAY 1777, Barony, Lanark, Scotland
Father: JOHN WINNING
Mother: ANN KEMP
Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record.
JOHN WINNING
Birth:
Christening: 23 MAY 1777, Highworth, Wiltshire, England
Father: WILLIAM WINNING
Mother: ELIZABETH
Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record..
The James Winning/Elizabeth Horn duo came from Barony so I guess that maybe the first one is a possible?
If you do a parent search there for John Winning/Ann Kemp you’ll find the following children. They all have birth dates and are extracted from official records.
1. JAMES WINNING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 16 SEP 1781 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
2. JAMES WINNING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 31 MAY 1783 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
3. JOHN WINNING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 09 MAY 1777 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
4. ANDREW WINNING - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 13 FEB 1774 Barony, Lanark, Scotland
Is that any use?
Alan

A search on Scotland's People brings a marriage for a John Winning to ISOBEL Letham 1805 .He is aged 22 on this ,taking birth year to 1883 ???
I think it is a case of spelling with Isabella / Isobel.
They went on to have a daughter named Elizabeth
