Can anyone help me?

Post by mvy_1 » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:32 am

I was wondering if it is at all possible to view BMD documents at scotlands people or somewhere else rather than online.

Hi Margaret,

Only if you can get to Scotland - the ScotlandsPeople Centre, Edinburgh, the Strathclyde Genealogy Centre (Park Circus), Glasgow, or some registration offices.

So, unless you are travelling to Scotland, then it is ScotlandsPeople on the internet.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks Andrew. I just did ma search on Scotlands People , but am reluctant to pay the 10pounds for the certificate, cos a I am really unsure whether the person is related. Being a 1978 death I guess that is why I have to get an extract. Thanks anyway, I think I'll just leave it for now and just make a note of it.
Cheers Margaret.

Hi Margaret

It costs £10 to get into the ScotlandsPeople Centre for the day, so £10 either way!
New users at the SP centre can have a free 2hr session, but then you have the travelling costs to take into account, I suppose...
The deaths that you can view online are available up to 1959, 50 years ago.

Why are some images not available on line?
Birth records less than 100 years old, marriage records less than 75 years old and death records less than 50 years old are deemed to be modern day records and for these records it is necessary to order an extract.
Best wishes
Lesley
