Hi Maggie,
I don't see any Alexander Kerrs born in Bonnyrigg in the 1901 census, but there are two possibles born in Lasswade.
One was born abt 1895 in Lasswade, father Thomas, coal miner hewer, mother Jane.
The other was born abt 1891 in Lasswade, father Thomas, coal miner, mother Annie.

Do either of these fit your knowledge of the family?

All the best,
Sarah

Hello Sarah
sorry for the delay in replying and sorry too for sending you on a wild goose chase
it would now appear (tale from an elderly relative of this Alexander Kerr) that Alexander was born in Ireland but the tale goes that he died in Roslyn assylum no idea of the year this happened the tale is he ended up in the assylum after his marriage went wrong and he was broken hearted and his mind went astray.
Once again thankyou for trying to help me
kind regards
maggie
