Sarah Sinclair/McCallum

Post by garydevine1995 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 3:17 pm

i cant find the death cert of Sarah Sinclair. she was born in 1873 and her parents were Robert McCallum and Agnes McLellan, she was illigetimate. she was married to peter sinclair in 1895 and he died in 1930 and it says on his death cert married to Sarah McCallum so that means she is still alive I think and my gran has passed down a book to me of the british royal family from 1937 ( just when George VI came to the throne) and she said her gran bought it so i like she must have died just after that because her other pair of grandparents died in 1916 and 1917.

Hi Gary

Have you tried a death search for her as Sarah McLellan other surname Sinclair?
On a quick search I'm not seeing anything obvious though under McLellan.

I take it you have checked this one and it is not her?
1955 SINCLAIR SARAH SINCLAIR MCCALLUM F 81 TRADESTON GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 644/16 0258

What area of Scotland is she likely to be in at the time? Where did Peter die in 1930? Where did they marry?

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Gary

Well once you have credits, I would check that one first, as the age seems pretty much correct and Tradeston seems reasonable given that you mentioned she is likely to be in Glasgow. I do not have enough credits to view it and have no money for more credits at present. Running out of credits is one of those occupational hazzards in this game - happens to us all!

Best wishes

Hi Gary

That is great that is was the correct one, and that you have found her.

If you find yourself searching again for a death of a woman who was married when she died or had been married in the past, then always try a search with the two (or three? or four?? ) surnames you know that they had. They can be a lot easier to trace than men sometimes, because you have that option of using a two surname search.

I'm sure we would be able to help with the writing, but unfortunately there is no facility to upload an image on TS at the moment. Do you have a Flikr account, photobucket or another online photo account where you could maybe upload it and then list the link on TS, so we can view it?

Best wishes

Hi Gary,

I've had a look at the death certificate, and read it as follows:
  • Sarah Sinclair Maitland Colquhoun Sinclair (widow of Peter Sinclair, Plumber (Foreman))
1955 October Second 6h 10m PM; 676 Govan Road, Glasgow
    F, 81 Years
    Robert McCallum, Plumber (Deceased)
Agnes McCallum, afterwards Fraser, M.S. McLellan (Deceased)
Anility, As cert by David Kyle, MB. ChB.
Peter Sinclair, Son, 24 Hyndland Street, Glasgow
1955 October 3rd at Glasgow; Jim Cossar, Assistant Registrar; SL Int. Regr.
All the best,

AndrewP
