Hi,
I was wondering if the GROS Data info eg: if it shows as 123/45 for more than one person in the same district then is there a strong chance that they are related? The Smith's married in 1950, if you see births in the district they married with common GROS Data info for the next several years can u chance they are offspring of the smiths?

Re: GROS Data
Hi Dennis,
The GROS data that you give is the coding used for that registration district. If the surname is uncommon then it may be a good clue that they are likely to be related. The chances increase in a rural district with a small population where there may only be a dozen or so births in a year. However in a city area where there may be more than 1000 (in some cases more than 2000) births in the district in a year then unless the name is very unusual for that area then it is unlikely (although still possible) to mean any relationship at all.
All the best,
AndrewP
