Where would I have gone to school?

Post by Dennis » Thu Aug 29, 2013 5:08 am

Hi. When I left Glasgow in the summer of '56 aged 9; what are the likely schools I'd have attended? The only streets I recall are Maryhill Rd, Sauciehall Street, SpringBank, Ruchill.

Hi Dennis,

There are a few schools in the area.

Have a look at this old map and you'll see them marked. http://maps.nls.uk/view/74400475 Hopefully you may remember some street names.

I know you've previously talked about Windsor Terrace and I would have gone for Napiershall St School (unless it was R.C.) in that area but the places you mention are a bit further north.

Regards,
Annette

Hi Dennis

Unfortunately, your religion may have been a big factor in which schools you attended.
