Help identifying word in Born column

Post by Aliballibee » Wed Oct 21, 2015 12:55 am

Hi

The attached details are for the marrriage of James Anderson to Christian Burr in Peterhead in 1855.

The When, Where and How is a little scrambled but I think its July 24th 1855 in Peterhead.

What I'm trying to identify is the word in the birtplace column, which says "Born --------------in Lonmay in 1833".

I'm curious about the missing word but also I have Christian and her twin, Elizabeth, born / baptised on 26th July 1832.

Many thanks

Alan

Hi Alan,

I read the where and when as:
  • On July 24th 1855,
    At Springfield, Peterhead.
    Marriage after banns was
    solemnised between us
    according to the Rites and
    Ceremonies of the Free
    Church of Scotland.
And the born as:
  • Born + registered
    in Lonmay in
    1833.
All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Andrew

Thanks again for your assistance.

I'm getting better at reading these old records but sometimes words just don't appear - never thought it said "registered" buts makes perfect sense.

The only other problem is the birthdate - Christian is definitely 1832 and not 1833. Maybe just a wee mistake.

Kind regards

Alan
