Is there anyone who can read a cert for me please? I got sent 1 ages ago from this site and saved it. Sadly i cannot get a close up as it goes blurred. Its a 1859 marriage of Alex Riley and Isabella Alexander. I know its in Glasgow but i cannot read the first column at all. Cheers,
Mark

Hello Mark
Welcome to TalkingScot!
Just to clarify any misunderstandings....TalkingScot website isn't part of Scotland's People website. True we have a link to them and they have one to us but we're not related, connected, or in cahoots
!
You will find though that amongst the TalkingScot membership there are folks who currently serve on the Scotland's People user group and can be extremely helpful to anyone who makes a post on here about a specific problem with SP.
Now....about your illegible certificate......if you have it saved on your computer from the SP website then it's likely in a .jpg format. If you resave it on your own computer as a .tif format (so you then will actually have two files) you should be able to enlarge it to view it and it won't go blurry. As a TalkingScot member you also have access to our Gallery which can be accessed through the link at the top of the page. You could upload the .tif formatted certificate into the gallery section that is set aside for poor handwriting analysis. I'm sure there are any number of folks who would take a look and try to help you with it.
If the certificate is really that illegible though your best bet is to send a contact form from the SP website to them directly and tell them the problem. I'm sure you will be supplied with a mailed photocopy of the record that should be much clearer.
Hope this helps.....
Best wishes
Jean
