Baby survives mothers death.....

Post by angel » Mon Dec 26, 2005 10:29 pm

Hello

I am looking for my second cousin who is believed to survive his birth. His mother Amelia Brown m.s Queen died in chilbirth in the maternity hospital Glasgow( most likey the Rottenrow).

Unfortunately no remrmbers whether the child was a boy or girl all I know that the baby survived his father is James Hammond Brown.

Can anyone adive please?

Hi angel,

What is the date of the child's birth please? Failing this do you have the mother's death certificate to give you an approximate date? There is an Amelia Brown, other surname Queen at Scotland's People who died in 1943. And there are 22 brown children who died between 1943 and 1954. The father seems to have died after 1954, as a quick search revealed nothing at SP.

If the child was born this late I think you need to obtain the birth registration from GRO directly, and it should not be that difficult, since you have both parents names....and if the Amelia above is yours, an approximate year of birth. From there you could search the death records.

That's all I can think of, but others here know a lot more about this stuff than I do!

Good luck!

Nina

Heather

If the dates fit, then the record that Nina found has to be worth a look.

But while the place and causes of death match your info, the given name of the husband are a bit different .......

And then it's a matter of writing to GROS. At that date the birth index gives the maiden name of the mother, so that it's quite a short searh to look for any BROWN birth, where the mother's maiden name is QUEEN, in both the male and female indexes, if required, - but I don't know if GROS will carry out such a search for the standard fee.............

Hi Ninatoo and David

 Sorry I have made a mistake in the fathers christen name it should read Robert. I found some cd's which I had stored files and found their marriage. They were married 18 June 1920 so the baby was a late baby and if memory serves me right Amelia was age 46 when she died.

Let's put it this way, assuming that the date fits then the chances that this is not the correct record are minimal.

Hi David

I have been thinking about the name I am sure it is and next year when I have some money for credits for SP.

I will look againfor Ameila's death cert I did have it before but lost it when I accidently deleted everything from SP and it was on the computer but it was ill and I lost everthing as well.

If I remember correctly Roberts full name was on the cert. All I can say is many thanks to everyone who has spent time helping me it is much appreciated.
