Should be easy Catherine Jenkins(Granny Gooseberry was the less flattering nickname my Granny had for her Mother's Mother as she said she used to count the Gooseberries on the bush & know if Granny had "helped herself" on the way to school.) was the fourth generation to be born in OK & Robert Greer by Granny's account worked for the Clyde Trust in OK living in a Clyde Trust House & was a Stonemason.
Little look on the IGI for the marriage-nothing.Onto SP again nothing! Looked at Mary's Birth in 1871(my G-Granny) parent's Marriage date is given as July 1866 a full year exactly before her eldest sister Anne's Birh in July 1867.Place of marriage Kilfinnan???? Why the heck there???
OK back to the drawing board put in Argyll/Kilfinnan years 1860-1872 just in case-zilch.Try Argyll all parishes same years- zilch!
Now why the heck would somebody from OK with several generations living there & someone from Glennifer Braes in Paisley marry in Argyll?
Is Kilfinnan close to Glennifer Braes(not in my recollection!) & why no marriage?
The horrible part of me would be delighted if they "lived in sin" as she in particular was very scathing of any unwed Mothers.
Now I have always thought the origin of the name Greer to be Irish.Could the marriage have been in Killfinnan in Ireland & that's why I can't find it?
Tried all combination of names anybody help please?
Well I have found the marriage-six entries for the same one is this a record? All variation of names of both parties but it is quite clear on the certificates that the names are Greer/Jenkins! Contact form to SP I think!
