I'm looking for info on my Gr Grandad, Angus Binnie, I have him on 1901 census aged 7 in Falkirk and I have his wedding reg in 1925 to Sarah Anderson Clark (in Glasgow), I can't find record of his birth though............ his mother was Annie Johnston and his father James Binnie, (although I can't find record of this marriage either, as all his siblings have a different mother), I'm going round in circles.............
elusive great grandad!

Hi Tess,
I did a search on ScotlandsPeople and found a Angus Binnie born in 1895 in Falkirk. Didn't have any credits to look it up, but could this be him or have you already tried this one?

Hi Tess
If so, I'd try a search for just B*nnie (to cover Bennie and Binnie and Beanie - I have one in my tree, they turn up as all sorts!!) just in that area, just to see what turned up. His "real"name may have had a name before the Angus maybe e.g. George Angus or something similar? Though usually SP would show you these anyway.... maybe he was registered as with one name then known as "Angus"?
Grasping at straws here...
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Tess
I haven't seen all the records you have but assume you're getting his parents names from his MC? Any chance he might have named the wrong woman as his mother?? I mean...you did mention something about all his siblings have different ones......
There is an Angus born in Grangemouth with at least a dad named James but mom of Jane Robertson...and a little younger than the census claims...
13 1896 BINNIE ANGUS ROBERTSON M GRANGEMOUTH /STIRLING 481/B0 0076
Is this grasping at straws to the extreme or what!!?? It's just that I'm not seeing any other likely contenders at the moment.........
Best wishes

hmm, I seen all the contenders too!! On his marriage cert his mother is named as Annie Devenney, formerly Binnie nee Johnston, so I found her marriage cert for her 2nd marriage and got her parents details. I've also got the wedding reg for Angus Father, he married Annie Aitken a few months after Angus was born, I do have an Angus Aitken born illegitamatly (sp?) so I am leaning toward this being him, but can't figure out where Annie Johnston comes into it?? (I wondered if the 2 Annies were the same person, but the parents are different)
What I really want to know is what happened to him after 1930, when he and his wife split up and he abandoned his 3 daughters with his mother in law.....................
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate this x
