Extra column Birth Cert.....

Post by pinkshoes » Fri Feb 10, 2006 4:35 pm

I was just thinking - for the sake of future generations of genealogists, wouldn't it be helpful if there was an extra column for "whaur did ye get a name lik that fae", or even "origin of middle name". It could be filled in with "named for 4th great grandfather on mother's side" or "efter oor Auntie Lizzie wha' deed a wheen o years ago".

Middle names are really useful for getting a handle on things, but they can take a bit of winkling out!

Just a thought ...

Brilliant idea - now why didn't they think of that in 1855?

Best wishes

Or, as would have been the only answer to a long since banned TS's member's beliefs as to the situation as they saw it, each wee baby had a unique number tattooed on it's forehead at birth, forever thereafter to be quoted for any civil record :!: :!:
