PF as Informant?.....

Post by Moonwatcher » Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:01 am

Hi.

Here’s one to start the day…

Those of you who have access/spare credits, might like to take a look at the following;

Death. 1937 Hugh Stavely (alias James Wilson) Lab. Lochaber. Inverness.

How common was it for the PF to act as informant on a death certificate?
Can anybody make out the PFs surname [Mckenna?]
Given the chap has an alias, does this point towards some internment at time of death?

What does the panel think?

Bob.

Hi Bob

Unusual but far from unknown for the Procurator Fiscal to act as the informant.

Once SP comes back on line I'll have a look, - as "normal" they have greatly exceeded the estimated time off-line, on this occasion for the relocation of the servers. 8-[

I'd suspect it was a case of a quick referral to the PF due to the cause of death, and/or lack of medical attendant prior to death, but no need for anything more than a swift confirmation by a doctor acting on behalf of the PF, - no appropriate relative, friend, landlord etc., available or willing to act as informant, so that the death had not already been registered, - therefore the PF took over that role.

For the moment, can't comment on the alias.

Hi Davie,
Thanks for that. I'll be interested to hear what you think when you see the cert. Their's a bit of a story behind this one.
