Spares.....

Post by clare » Sat Apr 01, 2006 11:07 am

Hi there,

I have a large collection of 'spare' certs that I have downloaded over the years (since you get 3 to a page for births and deaths). I have compiled a list of all the births that I hold - can I post a list of the spares here? Or is that against rules/copyright etc?

Cheers,
Clare

Hi Clare
can I post a list of the spares here?
I suspect not, although I appreciate it's a very kind offer, but I'll leave it to one of the Admin Group to have the final say on it.

Best wishes

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for the response. That is why I thought I should maybe check before just going ahead and doing it! :)

Cheers,

You are most welcome to post such a list here, as long as it is understood that what you are offering to pass on to anyone interested is the transcribed information from the images that you have.

In other words it's the images which are copyrighted, not the info that they contain, and as long as you are prepared to transcribe the info for anyone interested, then there's no problem !

Direct emailing of the TIFF files downloaded from SP or photocopying of printouts of these images is to be avoided, please.

Thanks David,

Transcribing is no problem at all - as long as I can read the handwriting properly! I am happy to do that for anyone who is interested.

I am hoping that somewhere in the list is the answer to someone's brickwall :)

I will split them up by years as I now have more than 200.

Cheers,
Clare

Smashing idea Clare!

I have loads of spares and have often wondered what to do with them, unlike you I never thought to just ask!

Will start posting a.s.a.p.

Just thought it's the same for deaths and marriages too! Would anyone scream if we all started adding all our spares? Pity we couldn't throw in the spare tyres as well  (Sorry it's Saturday night!)

Clare - I think you must not only be kind, but also an organised and dilient person .
Tish I was just thinking the same - I started a spreadsheet of my "holdings" a while back, but I never kept up with it and never got round to posting it anywhere. If I actually succeed in finding it tonight I will post the results of the DEATHS I recorded ( I must be morbid because thats's all I did ..) .

Glad this thread was posted because I was just thinking the same thing yesterday.

I'll get a list organised.
