Registration Services (Scotland) Bill.....

Post by AndrewP » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:18 pm

An article of interest in tonight's (Edinburgh) Evening News:

Or from the Scottish Parliament:

All the best,

Hope their computers don't crash, Andrew. I am assuming there will be some provisions for verifying data.

They would have to run a dual system surely, there are still an awful lot of people around who DON'T TRUST COMPUTERS and who can blame them

Fantastic but I am concerned about the verfication of information-with so much identify theft about will this make it easier? What safeguards will there be?How will they know if a certificate is real e.g. the birth record you get from the midwife following a birth? It is easy to verify at the Register Office but I would imagine be easy to scan in a fake online.
Also will this again be a two tier system? With those with the income & knowledge able to use on-line facilities & the less well-off having to appear in person.
Nothing more exciting than going to Register a Birth but then again so much more easy than having to dress the wain & battle out in adverse weather maybe via public transport to do the job.

Joette, you don't need to have any documentation from the hospital or midwife.

see: http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/regscot/ ... birth.html

and if the parents are married, Dad can go by himself - I've never registered any of my 4. [and yes, they are all named and spelled correctly  ]

Wilma

It sounds too easy. I am sure I can forge a card from the hospital and register my 10 kids I don't have. Do you get Child Endowment in Scotland?

Maybe I'll come back and see if I can get some money out of the government
