Hi:)

I just uploaded the 1893 MC for William Morris & Jessie Murdoch. William's parents are shown as Ebenezer Morris & Agnes Dewar; however I can find no Morris/ Dewar marriage, only a Morris/ Comrie marriage that seems to fir.

Hi Dennis

Do you have proof of any siblings to William or proof of his own birth record? This is a list of the children to Ebenezer and Agnes Comrie from the IGI........and it sure looks tempting to say he got his mum's name wrong. Have you found them on any census records to prove which family William is from?....Does William's birthplace from the census after his marriage agree with Dunblane?

Hello Jean

I've upped the 1901 census that I think is the one that applies to.

Oops. I found one for him born in Dunblane, I'll go up that one now:)
the 2nd one 1901b is the Dunblane one. It seems odd that William's wife's parents info is fine.

William's birth record for Dec.28, 1866 has his mom's name as Comrie.

Hi Dennis

It's clear that you have two William/Jessie families going on here. Can you identify which census is the right one? The one born Dunblane is clearly the William Morris from the IGI listing I posted up above before. The other William Morris......I'm not sure who his parents are but you should be able to find a marriage date for him and Jessie from finding one of their children's births. Does this make sense?

Now the MC you have that states Ebenezer and Agnes DEWAR istead of Ebenezer and Agnes COMRIE as parents belongs to the contestant #2. I honestly thing that William simply got his mum's mn wrong on his MC!!! Unless you know for a fact that the family you are tracing were living in Galston in 1901 and had a daughter named Hannah etc then ignore that other 1901 census record!!!

I've just uploaded the 1902 DC for Agnes Comrie Morris, William's wife; there are 2 for Agnes on this document one for an infant and one for a 63 year old. In both cases, the father/ husband has the same
occupation.

I think you go searching for these certificates just to test me!!

Ok....Without doing a bit of checking by first instinct is to tell you that the first Agnes Comrie Morris death top of page infant father Ebenezer etc is the granddaugter of Ebenezer and Agnes Comrie Morris. See her mother's name. I bet if you serach for a MC between Eleanor and Ebenezer you'll find this Ebenezer is the son of Ebenezer Sr. Baby named for her grannie. Like father like son occupations?

The second Agnes bottom of the page is the real Agnes Comrie Morris. I believe this is the mother of your William.

Does this make sense?

Well, I know its not the 1st Ebenezer, brother of William, who died at age 10 months. So I'll have to find out who the 2nd brother of William to be called Ebenezer married.
