Hi,
Excuse my ignorance, but are there records available in Edinburgh that are not yet available on scotlandspeople? I am looking, in particular, for a birth for my grandmother's half sister, Margaret MCARTHUR, whom I believe was born between 1912 - 1920 in the Greenock area to Eliza (nee MCGREGOR) & Angus MCARTHUR. They all emigrated to Canada just after her birth. I know 1904/05 is about as far as births go on scotlandspeople, but wondered if more recent BDM records were available to the general public in Edinburgh? Thank you!

Yes, the newer records, almost up to date, are available in New Register House, Edinburgh.
The online records are restricted to 100 years closure (births), 75 years closure (marriages) and 50 years closure (deaths). BMD records currently available online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk are:
