Deciphering help please.....

Post by garibaldired » Tue May 23, 2006 5:29 pm

Hi,

I've uploaded the death certificate for Hannah Dobie to the gallery.
Can anyone make out the address where she died? Or her mother's maiden name?

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-558

Thanks,
Meg

Hi Meg,

The address was Newtongrange, Newbattle.

Her mother's maiden name was not known. The only detail is that she was deceased. It seems that her son in law, the informant to the registrar, knew little of her parents other than they were deceased. Her father's suname looks like York.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Meg
the place I think is Newton Grange, Newbattle.
There is no name there for her mother - just I think an indication that she is deceased.

best wishes
Lesley

Hi Andrew and Lesley,

Thank you both very much.
I can now see it says "deceased" under York and under the two dashes! I was obviously hoping so much to see a maiden name I "saw" one!!
Thanks again.
Meg
