Mary Blair/Grant/Sneddon.....

Post by Jean Jeanie » Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:16 am

I have searched for my gg granny's death and can't find it.

She was illegitimate. Her mother's name was Blair, I presume, but shown as Janet Brown on her mariage cert., and her father's name was Grant. Her married name was Sneddon. Her husband died 1899 in Coatbridge.

I have her in the 1901 census in Coatbridge, a widow, aged 57, with a son Francis, aged 23. This son was not shown with her and her husband in 1891 or 1881.

Help!!!

Jean

Jeanie, what was Great granny's first name? Is it Janet or is that the mother?

I was wondering if you used wildcards for sneddon? ie: sn*d*n.

Nina
Researching: Easton ( Renfrewshire, Dunbarton and Glasgow), Corr (Londonderry and Glasgow), Carson (Co. Down, Irvine, Ayrshire and Glasgow), Logan (Londonderry and Glasgow)

Hi Nina

Great Granny was Mary Blair. Her marriage cert shows her name as Mary Blair or Mary Blair Grant. Her mother was shown as Janet Brown. Her father was shown as Alexander Grant. Where the Blair comes from I don't know!

I've tried wildcards like you suggested, but still no luck.
