Elisabeth the first?.....

Post by joette » Thu Jun 15, 2006 4:37 pm

Whilst browsing the IGI for my "cast your seed upon the wind" McKimmies-poor Grandparents are left with several of their son/daughters illegitimate off-spring.One boy had three to three different girls in adjacent parishes before he marries another.I guess there were no TVs to occupy them in the winter months.
Anyway found two marriages for a Alexander McKimmie both in Keith,Banff.
The first is 14th July 1860 to Elisabeth McWilliam.
The second 26th Oct. 1865 to Elizabeth Forsyth.
Had a look on SP for a death between 1860 & 1865 for a Elisabeth McKimmie other name McWilliam in Banff-no results.
Had another look for Elisabeth McKimmie 1860-1865, Banff. no results
Same for Scotland wide search, even for McKimmie, female 1860-1865.
So concluded this must be the marriage of two cousins to two Elisabeth's.
Wrong. The 1860 is Alexander McKimmie-father George & mother Isabel mn Moir.& the 1865 is for the same Alexander to Elizabeth Forsyth.
He states he is a widower!if so where the heck did his Wife die?
I would find it very unlikely that the Minister-same one in both marriages would marry someone he knew was not a widower so why is her Death not recorded.Am I missing something obvious?
As far as I know they pretty much stayed put for the next few years & no connections that I know of with Ireland/England.
Any suggestions anyone?

Joette, Are you using Elisabeth because I found it under Elizabeth.
I've just tried again and you have to put Mcwilliam in the surname box and McKimmie in other.
I always thought it would work either way.
