Hi Karen,

My interpretation of this one is:
  • Catherine Gaffney, widow of Felix Gaffney
    1943 May Twelfth 1h 45m A.M.
    St Joseph's House, Glasgow
    F, 48 years
    Bernard Feeney, farmer (deceased)
    Catherine Feeney, M.S. Cuniff (deceased)
Pernicious anaemia, as cert by W T David, L.R.C.P. &c.
Eugina Blackshaw, Little Sister of the Poor
1943 May 13th at Glasgow, John Reilly, Registrar
So the informant was a "Little Sister of the Poor" - a nun.

This may be the replacement St Joseph's House (opened 1992).

Hi Karen
I agree with everything Andrew said, apart from the age at death - I agree it does look similar in form to the other 4s on the page but I would keep an open mind on that one, as the construction seems a little different - it looks like one stroke, rather than two- it could be a 7, so age could be 78

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Lesley,

I see what you mean about 78. I now think that it looks more like 78 than the 48 that I first read there.

All the best,

AndrewP

Just a comment from a medical point of view.
With a cause of death 'Pernicious Anaemia' age 78 is more likely.
