Intriguing marriage entry.....

Post by Tom-W » Sun Jun 18, 2006 6:24 pm

I was searching for a marriage and one of my searches produced the following result (completely unrelated to me):

1889 BARLEY WILLIAM JOHN HENDERSON ELIZABETH CRAIG SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 055/AF 0037

1889 BECKINGHAM HENRY JAMES HENDERSON ELIZABETH CRAIG SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 055/AF 0037

1889 LEES ROBERT HENDERSON ELIZABETH CRAIG SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 055/AF 0037

1889 MURRAY ANGUS HENDERSON ELIZABETH CRAIG SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 055/AF 0037

1889 MURRAY ANGUS HENDERSON ELIZABETH CRAIG SERVICE AND WAR RETURNS /MINOR RECORDS 055/AF 0037

One of them is an obvious duplicate but what's the explanation for the others. Did she really marry 4 different times in one year or did the husband have a lot of aliases. Or is there something peculiar about this minor record entry? I can't believe there were 4 different women called Elizabeth Craig Henderson.

I'm intrigued - any ideas?

Tom

Hello Tom,

this is a problem with the database. I had a similar one, also with a man apparently marrying 4 women, but it was corrected. (I checked the original at NRH and he definitely was monogamous). My problem existed in the Scots Origin days, carried over to SP, was corrected, returned, and was corrected again. These things can happen with databases.

Please fill in a contact form - "Contact Us" on any page of the site, and the category is "Image and data do not match".

Regards,

John
