Yet more deciphering help, please?.....

Post by catbug » Tue Jun 20, 2006 4:50 pm

Hello,

I wonder if anyone could help me to read the witness name on an image I have uploaded to the gallery? I know her first name is Catherine and says "her (x) mark, aunt", but I can't read her last name. The rest of the image I have deciphered but I left it in as a sort of handwriting comparison.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Cat,

My interpretation of the witness's name is:
  • Catherine Kelly
    Her X mark
    Aunt
    63 Clyde Street
    Anderston
Below that is the registrar's name (Wm. Patrick?), as witness to her making her X-mark.

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks very much Andrew :D . I couldn't read it very well as it was so faded. It could be a link to getting a bit further back in my family tree than I have been able to so far, so I am very grateful you could decipher it.

Thanks again,
Cat

Hi Cat,

I looked at the image before seeing Andrew's reply and agree with his interpretation except at first glance I thought it was 53 Clyde St...looking at it again, it probably is 63 Clyde St.

Regards,
AnneH

Hi Anne H,

Thanks for that - always useful to have a second opinion :D.
