i have uploaded a snippet to the gallery
so after approval by admin
all suggestions as to what Mary Ann's maiden name is
will be greatly appreciated.

Would it be possible for you to upload the whole certificate to the Gallery? Sometimes it helps to have a bit more of the registrar's writing to compare the name in question with.

Instead of posting a section of the cert, can you post the whole cert in tif format, so that we can compare the writing on the whole cert.

I could see the "UTER" part of the name. Have doubts about the S. The registrars Ss are quite definately Ss. However Cuter or Luter didn't make sense as a name.

Hi Maggie

I was inclined towards Lister, from the smaller picture. The thing that put me off was his L in Leith is quite obvious. I was hoping to see another word with a capital L in it on the whole cert..................alas there's not one.
