Why can't they all be like this?.....

Post by PaulaD » Thu Jul 27, 2006 8:45 pm

Have just found a death cert on SP for 1855.
Not only does it have my rellies husband and parents (taking me back to the 1790's) BUT ......
it has all her children plus their ages at time of her death  :D \:D/ =D>
Has anyone else come across one of these?

Hi Paula

I found my first 1855 death cert last week. Aren't they wonderful. :D This branch of my family didn't have their marriages or births recorded in the OPRs, so the information re the children of the marriage is really great.

1855 is the only year that you will find all this info

Hi Paula
1855 is the "magic" year - the year statutory registration began in Scotland. More detail was recorded in 1855 on BM&D entries than in any subsequent year.

They are a real treat! :D

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Jean and Lesley,

Ooh I'm so excited :D Thanks to that one little piece of paper I've smashed through a huge ](*,) and zoomed back to 1693 largely due to the fact that this branch of the family stayed in the same village in West Lothian for more than a 100 years.
Unfortunately the rest of my rellies seemed to suffer from Itchy Feet Syndrome and flitted all over the place :?
