Hi all:

Need help with tiny Sarah's second cause of death, I can read, burn, but is that peritonitis?? Could she have swallowed something caustic?? Give me your opinion.....

Well...my guess is riding on Peritonitis. Can't really speculate what the cause was though but yes very sad.

I think the peritonitis is likely related to the effects of the burn. Peritonitis is the inflammation of the peritoneum (membrane lining the abdominal cavity). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peritonitis describes it quite well. My guess is that the burns got infected.

I think children were quite suceptible to burns. My grandfather's brother was scalded (burned) by boiling water that broke the glass it was being poured into (for a hot toddy). He died 9 days later. So a death 6 days after a burn, the burn didn't directly kill her, just the effects of the burn

Peritonitis it is, the dot on the first "i" is hardly separated from the rest of the letter.
